SecondSeat — Terms of Service

Effective Date: January 1, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SecondSeat (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Nature of the Service

SecondSeat is an AI-powered legal research and litigation support tool. The Service is designed to assist licensed legal professionals with research, case analysis, and document preparation. SecondSeat provides research assistance only — it does not provide legal advice, legal representation, or any substitute for the independent professional judgment of a licensed attorney. All outputs generated by the Service should be reviewed, verified, and validated by a licensed attorney before being used in any legal proceeding or relied upon in any professional capacity.

3. Open System Disclosure

SecondSeat's AI software is not a closed-loop system. Information submitted to the Service may be processed by third-party AI models and infrastructure providers. Accordingly, users must not upload, submit, or input any material that would violate applicable rules of professional ethics, including but not limited to attorney-client privileged information that cannot be disclosed to third parties, information subject to court-ordered confidentiality or protective orders, or any material whose submission would breach your ethical obligations under your jurisdiction's rules of professional conduct. It is your sole responsibility to ensure that your use of the Service complies with all applicable ethical rules and obligations.

4. No Attorney-Client Relationship

Use of SecondSeat does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and SecondSeat, its founders, employees, or affiliates. Always confer with a licensed attorney regarding any legal matter. SecondSeat is a tool — not a lawyer.

5. Accuracy Disclaimer

While SecondSeat employs citation verification and other safeguards, AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. Users are solely responsible for verifying all legal citations, case references, statutory language, and legal conclusions before reliance or use in any proceeding.

6. User Responsibilities

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with all applicable laws, court rules, and rules of professional conduct governing your jurisdiction and practice.

7. Limitation of Liability

SecondSeat and its affiliates shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of or reliance on the Service, including but not limited to errors in AI-generated content, missed deadlines, or adverse outcomes in legal proceedings.

8. Modifications

SecondSeat reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
